What is a material deposit?

Updated on 27 August 2026

Some jobs need materials, such as pipes, cables, paint, bolts and so on. Before heading to you, the tukang will estimate the material costs and send you a figure as a material deposit.

Why do I need to deposit upfront?

So the tukang does not have to spend their own money buying materials. This deposit is added to your total payment before they set off.

What happens if fewer materials are used than expected?

You get the difference back. For example, if you deposit Rp 200.000 but the tukang only uses Rp 150.000, the Rp 50.000 difference is returned to your original payment method once the job is done.

What if I disagree with the tukang's estimate?

You can cancel the order before paying. Once payment is made and the tukang has set off, different cancellation rules apply.

The tukang says no materials are needed. Do I still need to deposit?

No. If the tukang ticks "no materials needed", you only pay the service fee.

The material estimate is approved by you first, then payment is processed.
